FIRE DOOR SURVEYS
At L.O.I.L offer different levels of fire door surveys which I have listed below, if the fire doors are more than 20 years old, to save on costs it would be viable to go with a non-intrusive type 1 survey, this is generally because most doors of this age have damage or have not been installed to BS8214. Each survey will include photos of the doorset, and any issues found will be photographed and a solution how to rectify the issues will be given.

The importance of each individual part of the doorset is paramount, if one part fails then the performance is greatly reduced for example a gap at the top of the door which should be no bigger than 4mm, but is now 5mm, WHICH IS ONLY 1mm DIFFERENCE, due to worn hinges will de-rate the door from being guaranteed to last 30 minutes, to now last 6 or 7 minutes,

Non-intrusive type 1
This is our basic survey which is used to determine if a fire door needs to be replaced, this focuses on checking the condition of the door and frame, this does not include the removal of the architraves to assess if the frame has been fire stopped in accordance with BS8214.
Non-Intrusive Type 2
This is a survey the same as non-Intrusive type 1 but also includes any minor adjustments that could be done whilst on site such as an adjustment the drop seal or to the door closer to make the door close fully into the frame, tighten up any screws that are loose/replace any screws that are missing, adjust any of the hinge depths to rectify any non-compliant gaps in accordance with BS8214.
Intrusive Type 1
This is a basic intrusive survey, this checks the condition of the door and frame and includes the careful removal of the architraves, we remove the architraves to assess if the fire stopping between the frame and substrate has been carried out in accordance with BS8214. The architraves will be carefully fixed back into position after we have carried out our checks.
Intrusive Type 2
This is a survey the same as Intrusive type 1 but also includes any minor adjustments that could be done whilst on site such as an adjustment to the door closer to make the door close fully into the frame, tighten up any screws that are loose/replace any screws that are missing or adjust any of the hinge depths to rectify any non-compliant gaps in accordance with BS8214.
