COMPARTMENTATION SURVEYS

Compartmentation surveys are an important part of ensuring the safety of buildings and their occupants. The survey involves assessing the integrity of the compartmentation of a building, which is a system of separating different parts of a building through fire-resisting construction. Through the survey, potential weaknesses in the compartmentation are identified and appropriate solutions are recommended.

MEETING TODAYS STANDARDS

Compartmentation surveys are governed by regulations and laws that ensure that fire-resistant walls and floors are built and maintained to prevent the spread of fire and smoke. These regulations require that fire-resistant walls be checked for integrity and that any gaps or penetrations be sealed adequatly to maintain the compartment boundary. Additionally, the regulations require that any existing walls or floors be inspected for deterioration or damage and that any necessary repairs/upgrades be made and evidenced.  If a building is found not to meet the current criteria then upgrades shall be made to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants.
